From the moment you walk through the revolving doors, which are amazing, you are met by friendly, warm, welcoming staff. Our room was on the 2nd floor, which we got to by the quirky lift. The room and bathroom were a good size, with both a bath and shower. Each morning, we woke up to a fantastic view of Lough Ryan. The room was lovely and warm with tea and coffee facilities and a mounted TV. The cooked breakfast (Castle Grill) was filling and tasted good. There was also a good selection of cereals. There was one member of staff Lyndsey who had served us a few times, was always bubbly and welcoming, plus nothing was too much trouble. The spa is a great addition. It was nice being able to take a morning swim followed by the sauna. The positioning of hotel is great for people coming off the boat and has everything you need close by. The Castle is a great attraction where you can see a good bit of Stranraer.

We had a balcony which was great, looking over the Loch. The double bed was comfortable and 2 twins put together which was good as you don't feel the other person moving overnight. The room was a good temperature and the balcony doors could be opened to get fresh air. The breakfast was made fresh to order which is unusual in a big hotel and evening meal was really tasty and changed every night also drinks weren't to pricey. There was a tribute act on which couldn't be heard from the room. There was plenty of free parking and located in town centre. The leisure club is in need of some refurbishment but a good sized pool and jacuzzi and sauna

We arranged a family reunion to celebrate my wife's 80th birthday, not knowing the hotel but chosen for convenience for travelling from central Scotland and Ireland. Our anxiety about suitability of the hotel was unnecessary as the leisure facilities proved to be excellent (swimming pool with sauna and jacuzzi,) very large games room (bowling, snooker. billiards, table tennis) and lounges. The staff were very obliging and did so much to make the weekend memorable. There were two large weddings in the hotel during our stay but the service we enjoyed could not have been better.

I always, now, stay at this hotel, big enough to always have a room - superb for business, workmen in transit, leisure travel, a relaxing hospitable, relaxed stay, even if you have to be 'up & out' early; the above star ratings say most of it; absolutely superb facilities, & most certainly staff - welcoming, friendly, hospitable, Ultra- professional; above all that is what comes out of the kitchen - absolutely wonderful + a good, complimentary, wine list; &, excellent value for money. A superb community centre with the curling rink too. I sincerely thank term all there.

The grand entrance and decor, it felt like stepping back in time, but in a good way. The size of the rooms were excellent, with comfortable furniture and very clean. The swimming pool was a good size with great facilities. The staff were really lovely and helpful. The bar was really lovely in decor and good prices. The cooked breakfast was tasty. The main dining rooms had chandeliers. All was extremely clean and well presented. We really enjoyed our stay and will book into this hotel again.
